MY STORY
Hi! I'm Collette May.
I know what it feels like to love training dogs but go to bed every night wondering if you're actually getting anywhere.
Back to back sessions. A diary that never seemed to empty. An income that somehow still didn't reflect how hard I was working.
I was undercharging, saying yes to everyone, and completely stuck on a hamster wheel I'd built myself without even realising it.
My journey started because of one very special Labrador called Benji. He's the reason I fell into dogs properly, and eventually the reason I built Lead and Listen from a one woman dog walking round into a full training business with a team behind it.
I was proud of what I'd built. But if I'm honest, it had started to own me.
So I made a decision that most people thought was mad. I sold the business, packed up my life, and moved to Wales with my two kids, my dogs, and nothing but a big dream and everything I'd learned the hard way.
Starting over was terrifying. But it was also the best thing I ever did.
Completely Gundogs grew faster than Lead and Listen ever did, because this time I wasn't guessing.
I had a system.
I knew what to build first, how to price properly, and how to create a business that didn't fall apart the moment I stepped away from it.
Today I work fewer hours than I ever have. My business brings in more than it ever did when I was run ragged doing it all myself.
And the rest of my time? It looks like early mornings out working my Labradors across the fields. It looks like heading off in the camper with my partner, finding new coastlines, paddleboarding, and genuinely switching off without my phone buzzing every five minutes. It looks like sitting with my chihuahua on the beach.
